Fashion Designer

A fashion designer designs clothing. They may specialise in a certain area such as men’s wear or swim wear. Fashion designers, like stylists, work to a brief, either their own or one that is given to them. From this brief they will need to develop a product. These products are designed for high street fashion and designer labels.

There are many aspects to a fashion design career. Designers need to stay on top of current trends and styles. They will need to be creative when sketching and choosing material samples. They need to be able to work alone and as part of a design team. It is imperative that fashion designers have a good business mind as it is a highly competitive industry. An understanding of marketing is also a must.
